It’s not surprising that China’s unprecedented economic growth over the past decade has led to huge increases in their CO2 emissions.

But before thinking this means we’re no longer the world’s top carbon polluters, keep in mind that their population is 4.5x that of America’s.

This means that if the Chinese emitted as much per capita CO2  as Americans their total carbon output would top 40 billion metric tons!
